Meet Amanda

Hi, I’m Amanda Pedrianes, and I’m running to represent Ward 4 on the Thornton City Council!

I’ve spent nearly all of my 34 years right here in Thornton—I grew up here. I walked the halls of Skyview Elementary, and it was in those classrooms that the foundation of who I am was built.

I went on to study International Affairs at the University of Colorado, with a focus on business, economics, and political science. Since then, I’ve worked across the business spectrum—from startups to major corporations.

As a Business Analyst, I’ve helped companies recover from natural disasters through effective business continuity planning, supported clients in achieving long-term financial stability, and developed strategies to turn bold ideas into real, actionable plans. When people have a vision but don’t know how to make it happen, I’m the one they call—because I’m the one who figures it out.

One of the most defining moments of my life was watching my Uncle Ralf bravely battle terminal cancer. Through his strength, I learned something powerful: the time to fight for our lives—and our communities—is before we’re in crisis. That lesson fuels my commitment to protecting the health, safety, and future of Thornton families. It’s also the reason I don’t give up. Ever.

Over the years, I’ve proudly served on several local boards and various leadership roles, working to create real, lasting impact in our neighborhoods (see the full list below).

Now, I’m ready to bring that same passion, energy, and fresh perspective to the Thornton City Council.

My mission is to empower the next generation by ensuring every voice is heard—because the future can’t be built without all of us at the table.

We’re living in a time where stepping up is no longer optional—it’s urgent.

And like many of you, I’m tired of the political noise and the endless left-versus-right battles. This isn’t about partisan wins. This is about a win for Thornton.

The future belongs to the next generation, and it can’t be built by those who can’t see it. I know what it’s like—I’ve lived it. I don’t just imagine the future we need—I am that future.

There are eight City Council members in Thornton. One of them should represent us.

Amanda's Experience

During my time serving on BTAC, we reinvested several million dollars of city funds back into local businesses through the BIG Grant program.

One of the most critical moments of my tenure came during the global pandemic in 2020. Recognizing the urgent need for economic support, I proposed converting our grant funds into a one-time business recovery program to help local businesses survive an uncertain and rapidly changing landscape. The program was a success—reinvesting funds faster than the federal government and ultimately supporting over 490 businesses across our community.

Additionally, I created incentives for businesses receiving city funds to invest in clean energy and sustainable practices—choices that ultimately benefit everyone in Thornton.

I believe that, more often than not, we already have what we need to solve a problem. Sometimes, it just takes creative thinking.

Inspired by a close family member’s battle with cancer, I became one of the most vocal advocates on Capitol Hill—because no family should have to face a cancer diagnosis alone. Today, I partner with organizations like the American Cancer Society, the Colorado Cancer Coalition, and the Colorectal Cancer Alliance to raise awareness, educate communities, and advance not only the search for a cure, but also prevention. Healthy communities start at home—and that’s why I will always prioritize the health and well-being of Thornton residents.

As a member of TASHCO, I’ve had the opportunity to help shape the future of public art and community events in our city. When asked, the top three answers to “What do you love about Thornton?” consistently highlight our community events.

I’m especially proud to have helped create Thornton’s first-ever Dino Day this year and look forward to continuing to bring new and exciting experiences that residents want to see in the future.

As Vice President of the Women’s Caucus, I lead nationwide initiatives that empower women to step into leadership roles and actively engage in their communities through advocacy, public service, and charitable work.

Because really—who says women can’t do it all?

I serve on a university board as an advisor for healthcare research and clinical trials, helping connect the community to education, resources, and evidence-based care. During my time on the board, I’ve helped sustain critical research projects by linking them with the community advocates and resources needed to keep their work moving forward.

I received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award in recognition of my advocacy and charitable work across the State of Colorado.

Through a global volunteer program, I was honored as the 2025 Champion of Change for advancing critical causes such as healthcare reform, cancer research and prevention in Colorado, as well as other charitable initiatives.

Have you ever met a Miss Thornton?
As a former Miss Thornton—and later, Miss Colorado—I’ve spent years serving our communities through charitable work. I proudly put Thornton on the map during national competitions, championing platforms focused on education, the environment, and public health.

Those experiences showed me the true power of advocacy—and how far a single idea can go when you truly believe in it. They laid the foundation for the leader I am today.

I’m proud to have served, to have inspired others, and to keep building on that legacy.
